KINGSTON, Mass. -- Smiles, sunshine, and the aroma and crackling of the grill greeted all who attended Angelo Maroun’s first annual cluster cookout at the Kingston program on June 19.

The Kingston men were gracious hosts. Men and women from Abington, Carver, Leominster Pleasant, Leominster Wachusett, Middleboro, and Winchendon Alger prepared a variety of scrumptious dishes and shared their offerings with friends, family, and staff.

In addition to food, they shared good times. Conversations and laughter filled the air. Some guests played volleyball. Others enjoyed a Slip and Slide.

The cookout culminated in a raffle. Throughout the event, people purchased raffle tickets for $1 apiece, with proceeds going toward CRJ/CS’ day program initiative. Prizes included a Tom Brady rookie card, a Tedy Bruschi game-worn jersey card, and gift cards to Target, WalMart, and Dunkin Donuts. Those who participated clenched their tickets with baited breath as Angelo read each winning number. Each winner cried out with glee, and the crowd cheered.

The cookout was a success. The raffle raised $114 for the agency’s future day program. Best of all, memories of lively conversation and fun on that warm June day continue to bring smiles to the faces to all those in attendance.
