Plastic containers of fruits and vegetables laid out on a sidewalk

Residents of the Community Strategies house in Milford recently harvested a bounty of fresh fruits and vegetables, the rewards of a long summer planting, watering, and pruning.

At the beginning of the summer, the residents and staff transformed a weedy patch of bushes on the property into a new garden bursting with hot and sweet peppers, tomatoes, apples, and more.

In anticipation of the harvest, they’ve planned out a menu of salads and soups.

Gardening is an increasingly popular summertime activity among residents and staff at CS programs, including the residences in Brookfield, Mass., and Franklin, Mass.
