At the end of December 2015, Community Strategies of Massachusetts clients and staff participated in the 4th Annual “pay it forward” project at the Homeless Veterans Shelter in Worcester.
Each veteran received a gift bag with socks, a hat, a pair of gloves, and personal hygiene items. Multiple bins with new and gently used clothes were put together by our staff and clients. The support I received from my family, friends, co-workers, staff, clients and strangers was amazing. Watching the clients sort items and fill bags was the highlight of the project. They worked very closely with their case managers to ensure our packages looked nice and were filled with love and care. Each client donated an item towards the project. A big thank you to our amazing employees who worked really hard to secure and collect donations.
The veterans were extremely grateful for each and every item we shared with them. It was an incredible time, filled with smiles, laughs and some very happy men.
