Leah Samuel joined the Crime and Justice Institute (CJI) at Community Resources for Justice in August 2015. She provides research and project support for a variety of CJI projects, including both phases of the Justice Reinvestment Initiative – policy development and implementation—with a focus on statutory analysis and legislative drafting. Prior to joining CJI, Leah worked as an investigator for the Orleans Public Defenders Office in New Orleans, Louisiana. She is motivated by the transformative power of good data in national and state-level conversations around corrections. Leah holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California at Berkeley in Economics and Development Studies.
