“Monumental” Legislation Puts Kansas at the Forefront of Juvenile Justice Reform
In March 2016, the Kansas General Assembly passed sweeping reforms to the state’s juvenile justice system. CJI partnered with the Pew Charitable Trusts to provide technical assistance to the state workgroup, whose recommendations served as the basis for the reforms to limit the use of out of home placement to the most serious youth and reinvest resources into community-based services.
